I’m an ESTJ, execution-forward woman who gets an adrenaline rush from knocking out Google Tasks. And while I always knew I wanted to get back into the habit of blogging, I had “start blog” sitting in my backlog for years. I haven’t fully reconciled on why it’s took so long to pick up the pen again, even if it’s just a post every few weeks.
In fact, pushing long form thoughts out on a public canvass was something I regularly did as a teenager back in the Tumblr times of 2010’s. And I know I eventually want to write a memoir as a way to reflect on the crazy life I’m living (and hopefully inspire others). Blogging in a more stable late 20’s era seems like the right next step to make progress on this life goal of mine.
In 2022 I took a first major step by jotting a list of things I wanted to write and share knowledge on. Nearly 2 years later, and I’m slouching on my sofa in London on a Sunday night, publishing my first blogpost since 10 years.
I thought about how I want to ease into blogging. I’ll probably start with travel itineraries and recs from my accumulation of personal and work travel (which really accelerated during the pandemic, surprisingly). I’ll then work my way up to “life hacks and knowledge” — more general advice on how I approach doing XYZ. And if I end up finding the appetite, the audience, or even the words, I’ll evolve to writing about deeply personal but important moments in my life that have shaped/continue to shape me (the “what actually motivates me to grind” kind of posts).
Baby steps, but I’m getting there.
